Dinners =] Part One

First will be the one on Monday night with Rachael's family in their new, spacious residence!

The chinese delicacies by Aunt was so appetizing, my favourites! Bak Kut Teh, Fried Prawns, Pai Kuat etc.

And of course, the reunion of 5 childhood friends, 5 then young investigators.

So years ago..

Having a common passion for Nancy Drew, Famous Five and The Five Find Outers and The Dog, 5 children declared themselves The Famous Five!

Being the eldest, MS was the leader, followed by Rachael, Joyce, Mei Yen and Vincent.

Coming from different boarding schools, from different countries(adapted from Mallory Towers and St. Claire), they return and never fail to hang out together during holidays.

Coincidently, mystifying incidents happened and they become involved in peculiar situations. Before long, they set out on exciting adventures and managed to solve these mysteries together.

Over the years, they are plunged into mysteries with only the strangest of clues to work on, such as spiteful letters, incomplete maps, ancient score sheets, eerie sounds and anynomous phonecalls!

Recently (last year), while on a rewarded cruise trip, they got caught into a whirlpool and found themselves stranded in the times of the Titanic!

Also, we travelled to many places like Africa and France to gather clues and to track down treacherous opponents!

And yes, all those required every one of our imagination and cooperation.

Indisputably, we shared so much joy together, running around the house - the globe we trot on. Sometimes, we roll in laughter on our absudity and spontaneous reaction. We first draft a storyline, but many a time, while we are at it , more elaborations and timely happenings come in to allow a smoother flow, or simply to add colours to the plot.

One person worth mentioning here is Rach, who always intricately document our adventures and provide us with perfect props. Thanks a million!

Distinctively, we are of an age range of 13 to 18 (currently), which isn't a barrier anyhow. When it comes to imagination, we are one! I guess being childhood friends does help, and of course bearing two sets of best friends-parents. And more than ten years of English classes together in PJ Speech &Drama (5 years) and UK English Training Centre (6 years).

All these years, we may have grown up but we still gather a few times a year to let our imaginations run wild. Many may find this habbit queer, but to us,

it's our world.

Well in reality, we are from one country, but not so when I'm in Aussie. But this lil past time won't be a past. We now have a different way of solving these mysteries in two countries, yet together.

Speaking of this, we haven't had weird happenings lately, have we?

I guess we will never know.

**********************************************************************

Under the rainbow under the sea,
Children forever children are we,
When we all grow up,
We'll be inspectors,
Under the rainbow, under the sea

Bom bom bom bom.

Her again

My everyday life at home is pretty revolved around my baby sister. Often enough, it's either we are roaming around the house hand-in-hand, or we are snugged up on the sofa watching tv or playing or eating or..

But, this I have to record it here!

She was sitting on my lap, in front of the lap top when suddenly, I felt this strong sense of attachment towards her again..

And I said, "Ting, when Jie calls back from Australia, you must talk to jie, okay?"

And she nodded, "Okay,".

I wonder if she understood that that will be our way of communication for the next ten months.

Soon after, she said quietly,

" 謝 謝 姐 姐, 婷 婷 愛 你“

First, I was shocked and demanded her to repeat it. She did. Naturally, I was teary again. Ting, don't you understand?

I love you too!

While absorbing what she just said, I heard my dad at the door.

" 爸 爸 回 來 了” I told her.

She splurted,

" 婷 婷 怕 怕 爸 爸“

" 為 什 么?”I was astonished.

" 爸 爸 會 罵 罵 婷 婷 不 要 玩 computer,"

OHMYGOD! Such a perfect sentence! I was elated and quickly related that to my dad! He guffawed.

He will be fine without me, he has her.

As for me, I'm clueless on how to adapt to my new life without her.

I'm terrible at adapting. Experience tells me that. Severe culture shock (thanks mengs for the term =p) strikes whenever I start off at a different environment.

Shifting to secondary life took me one whole year to settle down, this, 1Z5 will attest to.

Moving on to college took me one month.

Depression. Crying. Looking back wistfully at memories.

Transition period.

Is. Terrible.

PS: This post is straying away from the title.

PPS: I love you !

Belated wishes

I tell you, I have ever changing emotions.

Just reading the latest post an hour ago made me cried twice.

But now, I'm feeling much better.

Mengs 's right, sorrow shan't take over me in my last week here.

At least for now, I will try.

And it's unbelievable I didn't wish everyone here,

GONG XI FA CAI!!!

Have a joyous and healthy year ahead!

I can't

Hugging her makes me tear. Hearing her voice makes my chest tight.

This time, next week.. What will I do?

The thought of not being her for a day is unimaginable, what's more ten months?

Some mornings, my parents wake me up at 7.30 am to sleep beside her while they go to work.

Some mornings, she goes, "Wake uppppppppppp!"

She picks what I wear in the morning.

We build our "residence" on the bed and in the car with pillow, bolster and blanket.

We have imaginary tea parties with Barbie, Barney, Teddy, Flower and Rosie.

I apply Tiger Balm on her mosquitto bites every other day.

We have a Bubble Tea Shop which trades money (Pokemon Cards) with flavoured bubble tea (Lego).

We watch "Barney - A night before Christmas" during Chinese New Year.

We sing along her favourite song, "Oh Christmas Tree".

She plays my hairdresser and "washes" (messing up) my hair.

She comes to me when my mother "scolds" her.

She hugs my thigh when a stranger is near.

She shivers when she urines.

We play teacher and student.

She likes to pretend to be a new born, held closely.

She fakes laughters and cries to get attention.

She poses for pictures.

She nestles around me most of the time.

"Kiss jie jie first, then I take that for you" is our common trade.

We empty and refill the piggy bank with syillings everyday and later wash our hands with our favourite soap.

Last night, we had each a drink, and I purposely took a sip from hers, she made it clear,
“這 是 姐 姐 的 (pointed at my drink) , 這 是 婷 婷 的(pointed at hers), okay?"

I'm leaving this Sunday and the thought of not seeing her causes my eyes to swell.

She will not be coming to the airport as my mum and grandma would be leaving as well.

I would give her my tighest hug and then pretend to have a nature's call. And then I would leave silently.

She wouldn't even know that I have left. She would call out for me at home to no answer. She would do it everyday, until she gets used to the idea that I won't be there.

And maybe then, she will stop doing so.

I would cry my eyes out over there, like how I already am here, silently at night. I would miss her shrieks, cries, laughters, and her ever amusing, adorable behavior.

I would ponder on her life, her growth and her learning progress.

Maybe one day, I would get used to her absense and stop doing so.

But I don't want to be immuned to not being by her side.

And eventually when I'm back again,

no doubt, she wouldn't forget me,

but would she remember all these?

Will she still come to me?

PS. I love you.

Counting the days

Packing, weighing, unpacking and packing again.

I'm really, really dreading to leave.

Before this, the mere thought of living in Melbourne excites me so much.

But now, I'm not too sure about that.

By the way, my family has been extra nice to me, considering the usual tease and "bullying".

I accidentally slapped my aunt's butt, yesterday and she said, "It's okay, it's you maaaa"..

Where's the usual "HOW DARE YOU! SORRY NO CURE!"..

Or..

"Thank you girl" when I complimented on her new year wardrobe, instead of

"What do you want?"

oR..

When she stroke my hair softly during tv time instead of the usual

save-face-it's-war-not-girly-time (though I'm not complaining)

Now, I get to watch whatever TV channel I like without much "hassle".

I don't have to queue for my turn for newspapers.

I decide on what we eat.

I get extra play time with my baby sister.

I get pats of encouragement, not pokes in the ribs nor slaps in the butts (grandma and aunt).

I'm no longer addressed as "FEI FEI" (grandma) .

Sigh.

Can everyone stop being so well-mannered?

I want to stay back, at home.

A spontaneous outing

Yeng Ying, Eeping and Meng Shuen

With Jon and MS

YY, MS, EP and I
A one, a two, a three, four, five and six =)

Waking up at six am for the first time in 3 months was strenous. Next, I started to worry about the strict rules in CHS, "Would they let me in?"

I tied up my hair with first a flower band, but shortly replaced it with a black one. Cancelling the thought of wearing an earring, I searched for my class T-shirt, and tucked it in my jeans neatly. Scanning myself through the mirror, I realised a few strands of hair were loose and was reaching out for the hair pin, until..

What was I doing!

I have graduated! I was just visiting!

And there I was, seated in the canteen, when Meng Shuen arrived, clad in a flattering white blouse, wearing earrings and her hair half pulled back. And so she was the cool senior caming back to school (with exclaims of "wah, meng shuen, you are so leng lui liao"), and I remained just....
an obedient student there.

While waiting for the Form Six's break, we were swamped into our own world again, carrying on about everything under the sun, from the past, friends, to happenings, and our future career. Such simple delight! (when will be next ?=( )While at that time, little form 1 and 2 students were busy doing their rumusan and eating their sandwiches.

During their recess, YY, EP and Zuzu came, and Jonathan, Siti-Joanne and Wai Mun joined us for a while. Soon after, we visited Eeping, Yvonne and Li Sian during their free period, and were chattering away happily until someone caught Pn. Lim Yoke Keng staring at us from below, and made us jumped out of our skins. Intuitively, the form 6's darted back into their class, and we sprinted to the toilet. Phew!

Ohya! When MS and I were walking out the school at 10 someting, the guard nearly stopped me, because I think he thought I was a student trying to escape. =.=

MS decided it's time to pump petrol for her first time, but was unsure of which type. So there she got me bewildered by her attempt to make a phone call in the petrol station.
Mengs ar, *shakes head*.
And soon, she learnt that by doing so, she would get us exploded. =.= After two failed attempts, she successfully got her tank filled, and off we started on our adventure!

I gave her two choices. First, go to A&W, second, jumped into a LRT and have a ride for fun. So obviously, she chose the less crazy one. But, thanks to me, I leaded her elsewhere.

And also thanks to my driving lessons, I recognised the Route B, and brought her back to somewhere familiar. Apparently, we angered an Indian man in his Volvo, who overtook us shortly and had him flashing his finger at us. After some time, as we stopped at the traffic light, we were appalled to find him on our right, still furious and had his finger pointing at us profusely.

"Oh no oh no.. okay let's not look at him, let's not look at him."

Fortunately, he headed down the high way and we went straight. Phew! Meng Shuen was thankful that we didn't scratch his car, for it would be murderous then.

We headed to the comic shop next, and then to Ipoh Kai Fan to quench our thirst. Si Xuan joined us soon after and we talked about her ADP course. Again, Sixuan is one great understanding sister to talk to, I'm going to miss u! Hopefully, she will be awarded the international scholarship like her sister, and further her studies in Canada.

Next on the agenda was the Sixth Former Club meeting. Jonathan was the president, and he delivered his speech so fluently, with such charisma. Everyone seemed to be listening to attentively and were quite involved in his plans. Form 6 in CHS feels so cozy and united.

We managed to catch up with Miss Lum and Pn Teh Saw Teng. Boy! I must say I miss high school so much! The school bell, the rules, the events, the canteen food....

After the meeting, Eeping, Zuzu, Mengs, Yengying and I headed to Amcorp for our lunch. We had a Korean meal, which wasn't exactly as mouth watering as it seemed in the menu (for me), but the little corner we took was commendable, for providing us privacy. Sixuan showed up shortly, as she had some matters with Pn. Lim.

The meal was really enjoyable as the Form 6 filled us in about their lives in school and so did we. Eeping and her bf, ZY and Pn. YMM, Meng and her "crush" on her 12-year-old student, just to name a few. Memorable casual conversations that brighten up our days! Sixuan made EP and I so jealous by being so fit despite eating almost two full bowls of rice. And more at home, she claimed.

We "toured" the bookshop and souvenir shop after that, and measured our "love passion" on this meter. Mengs and YY faired "warm", and I was "wicked"! lol.. And not forgetting the trip to the toilet, a ritual for Toilet Gang. Where we boldly snap pictures and caught a few wild stares. This auntie even suggested that we take our pictures outside! Guess she'll never understand.
Our friendship blossomed in the toilet.

Parting was quite rush, but I was really thankful of this meet up. 38 as always, we never conceal our true selves but instead, let them all out. We crapped (Zy with her "leng zhai ness") and teased each other, but I will never doubt their sincerity and reliability.

Leaving to Aus may mean going in our seperate ways, living different lives, but, I guess, I shan't worry. =)

Hmmmm...

And so, the organising dated back to a week before the party, when Suzzane (=p, more affectionately known as Sixuan) suggested that we have a surprise (well, not so) bash for them.

Soon, the news were spread, many thanks to MJ, Ee Ping, Chun Min, Si Xuan, Ean Wearn, Wei Han and many others. Pot luck as it is, messages were flooding in every other day for confirmation of attendance and to-be-prepared dish.

About 30 friends joined in the celebration, more than expected, and above all, the reunion of all once again was more than thrilling. The scrumptious meal, nonetheless, helped carry the night's confabulations through gleefully enough.

Wei Han's house (where it was held) was euphoric, filled with laughters and familiar (and much missed) silly behaviors. For most, it was their chance to make up for lost times, and the night slipped away unknowingly in the rejoice of each other's affairs.

The birthday girls had their share of fun, when the lights went off , unveiling Birthday cupcakes (courtesy of MJ) , presents and ahem, kisses.

Of course, the jubilant climax of the night was none other than the "Truth or Dare" game, with everybody cheering on to dares of kisses, sexy poses, stripping, confessions, and inevitably painful, disgusting acts.

Thanks everyone for making this party a success!

To sum up, you'd realise,

that some friends will continue to leave prints in your life. =)
