Don't look behind

Don't cry, don't turn back, don't wallow in miserable thoughts.

Don't think of time, sleep and effort forgone.

Don't suffer in regrets of "I should have.."

Don't stress on disrupted schedules or focus on discouraging thoughts.

Think of the initiative taken, help received, excitement of discovery and satisfaction.

They didn't exist for nothing, however fruitless it might be.

Appeciate mistakes. Part of life is all about falling and standing up again.

Insight gained will never be an unlearnt lesson.

Take one step at a time.

Breathe, MS.

You can do it.

Spend less time on disappointment and more time on mending it.

You can do it!

Another adventure awaits =)

Housework Vs Homework

Of late, I realise..

..that I have develop a relatively intense interest towards.....

Doing housework..

The satisfaction of seeing your reflection through the shiny tables is guaranteed. Cooking is fun. Cleaning up may be abit of messy, but it is worthwhile to see the plates and bowls nicely arranged back into the cupboards.

Even vacumming and moping can be gratifying. Or wiping your tables with scented multiwash and breath in your very own pine air in the house.. Or the trips to the backyard to check whether the clothes are dry every other half an hour..

Which means you would rather neglect (or avoid) assignments and tests that are coming up.
And when I eventually regret that I haven't done any homework, I would shake it off by saying "I was busy all day."

Now, I would rather do housework than study.

I would rather delay my homework, but never my housework.

I would rather wash and replace bedsheets and carpets than to try figure out that alien accounting software and work out that assignment (due soon) or start on my 1500-words economics essay (due sooner). Or read up and try to understand those case studies for the coming law test.

Now, whenever I sit myself to start my homework, I would get up the next instant, saying "I haven't thrown the rubbish" or "I haven't checked on the plants" or even "I should do some laundry again"~~ And before I know it, a day has passed, yet again.

Oh dear.. seriously..

Help. I'm falling behind schedule. =S

>.<

Tuesdays are always tiring.

Infomation-overloads from accounting lectures are often exhausting enough, from 2.15 -3.15pm. And then, while others can relax after that, I would have to go for my Quantitative Methods tutorial from 3.15-4.15pm.

Practically dozing off during tute, it's frustrating to not understand the tutorial, however simple it might have been if given more concentration. And yeah, the miserable hour passed and 4.15 pm came and I was overjoyed! FINALLY!!!!

Taking the lift down from the Doug Mcdonell building, I rested my eyes, that were barely open in the first place.

Then to exit the building to ultimate freedom (for the day), we had to go through this automated door.

So, I was trying to exit when the automated doors closed before me, which wasn't supposed to be the case, because they should open when they sense movement whatsoever. At the same time, from outside, there was this guy trying to enter, and was confused that the door was not opening.

And so, the both of us, separated by the glass panel, started to figure this door out. Well, eventually, he gave up and went in from some other entrance, duno, didn't bother.

Well, I was so lazy to find another exit, I thought, this door must work somehow!

So I moved from left to right, and from right to left, for a few times, hoping the door would open somehow, but to no avail.

And then, I looked up and saw the light blinking, I thought, hmm, maybe my movement is not vigorous enough.

So I went backwards, and pretended to walk towards that door, door remains shut. Next, I went back and forth and back and forth, for 5 times, but still, it wouldn't budge! ARGHH, what's with THIS stupid door, I grew impatient.

I WANNA GO HOME!!!

And then, suddenly, it swung open! *stares unbelievingly*

I looked behind to see another guy, smilling.

Well, apparently, this student managed to save my day.

By pushing the red "Push to Open" button on the left.

And I was pretty sure...

I heard sniggerings from behind.

I ran to the tram stop, my mind pushing the incident outta my mind.

On the way to the train station, in the tram, I buried my head in my hands, letting out squeals only I can hear.

I hope.

I'm truly embarrassed. T.T

My weekend =)

Reasons why my weekend is a very pleasant one:

  1. Jia Yen stayed over for 3 days 2 nights!!! We cooked together (thank god it's edible), did assignment, revise coursework, and watched COFFEE PRINCE as reward (9 episodes in 2 days, on and off after 1-2 hours of work *bliss*)!!!! It was a productive weekend as all of the sudden, I was so motivated to study! (As rewards await..)
  2. Sixuan called using Voipstunt two times in two days! (Sorry for interruption, Aunt from M'sia stuff and all) Thanks gal, for sharing and being a good listener. I will remember your pearls of advice and encouragement! I wish you all the best in Canada! Loves!
  3. This morning, Treetop Close (the private community I lived in) had its Working Bee day, to clean up the common area, before the Autumn falls (of leaves, that is). We raked the dry leaves and branches, cutted off some hedges and nonetheless, get to know our neighbours more.
  4. Neighbours I met in Working Bee are aged mostly from 50-65, as the working class were mostly occupied with their work and chores during the weekend. Friends I have made: Barbara, Lauren, Kay(treasurer), Belinda(president), Michael, Michael's wife and kids(5 and 2 -year-olds, so adorable!!!) and a few others. Such a pleasure!!
  5. Except the part when my neighbours had gone, "Oh, Mei! I thought you're his wife!" when my bro introduced me as his sister. =.='' eew and yuck.
  6. After the gardening, Barbara invited us over to her house for tea. Jia Yen, bro and I and a few other neighbours went. Barbara made such scrumptious cakes that I had 3 servings , and actually woke up at 6.30 am to bake them! A white-haired septuagenarian, she has an amazing sense of humour that I instantly felt warm with! (She exclaimed, "HEY, WHO'S TOUCHING ME! You gave me a fright!", when it was actually the wind chime gently brushing her back)
  7. After the tea, Jia Yen and I went for Dim Sum with Uncle Hoi Fatt and family. It's such a blessing to have an immediate, caring family I can fall back to over here. Meeting my adorable cousins, Mei Kwan, Mei Lee and Kok Weng again lightens up my day! It was Kok Weng's birthday and we had the best ice-cream cake ever, chocolate and oreo ice cream cake from Wendy's.
  8. Jia Yen and I even gave a hand to Mei Kwan in her assignments, which proved to be so much more appealing and creative! (Making a mini-microven and a chinese poster on DBSK! How cool!)
  9. Before going home, Aunt Linda segmented two flowering plants for me! Yeah!! Once I reached home, I quickly rooted them into the soil beside the Lemon plant and watered them a little! Hope it works!
  10. Sent Jia Yen to train station as she needed to get back to the city for dinner. Our heart sank when the train doors closed and was leaving! Thankfully, this good samaritan helped us to hold on the automatic doors while we ran our lives towards the train and Jia Yen safely aboded the train!

=)

How's yours?

Cheers!

Till the next time..

There I was washing the fruits..

when I got a call from home and my baby sister talked to me.. =)

It's amazing how she can already speak like how we do..

My dad says at night, she no longer uses the pampers as she would wake my mum up to bring her to the toilet.

My mum says she sometimes can get very excited and once kept them occupied by chatterring away for 3 hours!!!!!

Unimaginable..

I thought it has just been 2 months..

She sang me songs, "I Love You" and "Ke Ren Lai" . No longer the mumble versions I used to hear 2 months ago, this time, the complete versions.

I guffawed when she sang "O Christmas Tree", still the old version we sang together during Chinese New Year (wth) before I left.

" Ohhhh, Sheee-sheee-sheee,
Ohh, Sheee-shee-sheee,
Your leaves are so unchangggg---ching (high pitch).."

The trees tumbling down already la Ting..

Christmas tree is still shee-shee-shee, guess it's still difficult for her to pronouce.

Sigh.

I was moved and next overwhelmed again and.. (Ahhh.. ridiculous!)

Before we ended the conversation, she was shouting enthusiastically towards the phone:

"Bye bye Mei Shan Jie Jie, Wo Ai Ni!!"

Love you too!!!!!

T.T

ps: You're probably bored of me posting about missing her again.

Happy Happy Birthday!

To Tian Huey (14th April) and Si Xuan Jie (15th April),

Happy 18th and 19th Birthday!

To two natural leaders,

Here in words, I give you the lily of the nile,
Be sure to rejoice in your specialness awhile,
How else to make yourself the celebration,
If not to revel in utter elation?

You're all the joy, you're all the fun,
Spreading your love you never shun,
I thank you, my shinning sun,
For throughout the years of many gestures may be small,
Years of love and clarity are all.

So be it dawn, dusk or due,
As this poem flows to you,
With it is all my love imbue,
May you be happy, healthy and never blue,
Merry happy birthday to you!

On a lighter note,

Today's the day,
I get to say,
I'm happy you were born,
HEAP HEAP HOORAY!

I have to say, the both of you are very alike in many ways, being ever tough and never defeated, yet warm and down-to-earth. You are born leaders, and I have always looked up to you for strongly believing in your dreams and always pushing to your limits to be an achiever!

Aiming high and far is what you do, so keep reaching till you reach the stars!

Happy Birthday Si Xuan (always a sister) and to Tian Huey (the Monkey God)!!!!! ^^

Best wishes from me, can't afford a grand celebration, please accept my humble substitution!

Cheers!

Tagged by Jian ^^

The rules:-

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.

2. List eight (8) ransom facts about yourself.

3. tag eight people at the end of this post and list their names.

4. Let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Random Facts:

#1 I enjoy being in nature, flora close up, fauna at a distance.
Haha, yes I must clarify. Nature walks very much appeal to me, often very revitalising and inspiring. I love the rains too, they fill me up with energy! haha.. Animals, on the other hand, are very interesting to uhh.. just be observed.

#2 I think a lot....nono, I think too much.
It's my way of containing myself I guess. It's absurd sometimes when it runs too wild
and has no link at all when traced back.

#3 Meditation is part of my week.
This is important to counter #2, to strike a balance. I guess, the sound and tranquil attained in meditation are what I'm truly searching for,and to increase mindfulness. During meditation, I have to, in my meditation guru's words, "..leave your problems mentally outside the door", and when your mind is so clear of disturbances and unrests, it feels as if I can deal with my problems more openly later.

#4 I love the company of children.
Somehow, I'm much more at ease with children than with adults. They are simply.. simpler. (Even when they cry! hahaha I can't really pull a straight face when my baby sister cries, sadistic I know!) Having them on trains, too, makes the trip so much more contenting.

#5 I don't mind being alone.
As much as I enjoy being in company of friends and family, I very much revel in the peace of being alone too. Hahah, due to #1, #2 and #3, I guess.

#6 I love to eat!
Maybe because I practically eat everything (especially rice!), except liver and yam (sometimes). It's a pity though, that my appetite reduced substantially here, food, now just don't seem so appetizing anymore =(

#7 Blue and green are my colours!
They just appeal very naturally to me, it's like I seek solace in them. Having said that though, I'm wouldn't go gaga over them to that extent, unlike AHEM, who's insanely attached to purple! hahahahaha =p

#8 I'm missing the company back at home now.
Somehow, I'm fine here, but it just feels different. Enough said. =)

DONE! hehe..

I tag:

1. Mengs
2. Sara
3. Si Xuan
4. Meng Jin
5. Leying
6. Rachel
7. Theng Hon
8. Jin Lin

And you, if you're interested!

Don't tag people who have been tagged!

Do it in your own leisure and pleasure! Have fun =)

Cheers =]

Good luck..

My bro wasn't coming back for dinner tonight.

Oh well.

Let's see what's there to eat.

There were 3/4 of bread not eaten, expiring tomorrow.

Oh well.

There were some eggs.

Oh well.

So I had toasted breads with eggs for dinner.

So there I was munching on my sandwich, overlooking the window sill, when I suddenly heard some nervous flutters.

It scuffled to keep its body within the window sill, but it was too narrow. After a few attempts, it gave up and looked into the kitchen instead.

It bent its head down to the small hole at the bottom of the window and felt warmth. I think. Because, next, it pecked vehemently against the window.

After several attempts, it settled in at its spot again. And I continue to eat my sandwich, my gaze unlifted.

Once in a while, it quivered and cringed more into a ball, to smother its body. When it felt warm within, it releases the previous tension and looked into the kitchen again.

And pecked. I felt uncomfortable, is it wanting to come in?

At one point, it looked at my direction, in the eye. At that fleet moment, I felt like it was extending some sort of unfathomable message, it wasn't afraid, it was...

reaching out...

After I finished my meal, it was still there, nailed. But, I didn't want to do the dishes just yet, because walking towards it would make it fly away. And so, I, too was nailed onto my chair, and observed it barely three foot away. I'm still perplexed over the puzzling sense of belonging that washed over me. It was like.... hmmm..

Perhaps, we both felt something in common.

And next, it lost its balance and I heard a thud.

My heart really stopped and I was dumbfounded. What happened?

I rushed over to the other window overlooking the deck and saw it there.. in a bundle... all right. Looks like it had a safe landing on the deck. Somehow, it looked like a duck.

I switched on the spot light to warm up the deck, and it nuzzled in its new position. I observed it for another 5 minutes.

Then I went to do the dishes, and dashed back.

And it's gone.

Where could it have gone, in the dark, in the cold?

Maybe..

Home.

Happy Birthday!

On the 7th April 2008,

To Leying and Shi Yunn and Edwin (if you all ever come here XD),

Happy 19th and 18th and 19th Birthday respectively!

Birthday comes once a year,
Make a wish that would last forever,
Be it for beauty, wisdom, grace or to constantly endeavor,
Love, joy, or to be an achiever,
Or even for a reflective change-over,
May you be open to your heart and discover,
Happiness you would truly revere,
A treasure, you know is ...
Yours forever.

To Leying,

I cherish everything we have shared, and am blessed to have a cheerful friend like you! You brought me out of "the blurry era" (haha told you for countless times) and open up to people around me! You're a great friend who always shares and spreads the joy to people around you, and I believe, at any point of time, will never cease to do so.

Thank you!

Have a blast on your big day!

And may you persevere, and achieve whatever your heart desires. =)

Cheers to you!

So cool!

You know, this morning I woke up at 10.00 am, and when I was done brushing my teeth, washing my face, preparing and eating breakfast, and washing up, it was already 10.48 am.

And then I proceeded to checking the news on The Age Online and CNN, and was totally engrossed in increased interest rates (which implies that we have to repay house loans at higher rates).

But what really had me enthralled was the Tibetan Unrest, and being outdated altogether, I searched Wikipedia about its history and followed the updates in CNN, and casualties are rising and this might breach the peace during Olympics 2008. I recalled those images of the hunger strike for Free Tibet by Tibetian advocates in Federation Square I witnessed last week and blah blah..

So Mei Shan, what's your point?

The point is, *gets excited*,

there I was dreading to start my assignment but had to when I glanced at my desktop clock and realised it's 10.36 am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which startled me a little..

and then I realised DayLight Saving has occured and the global time has been adjusted. And guess what?

We had two 3 a.ms this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (shucks, and I was sleeping! eh which means I had 9 hours of sleep instead of 8! woohoo!)

*Senses that readers are not hyped up*

The point is, it felt good because I have spent an hour reading news but still gained an extra hour. It means that I had 25 hours a day on 6 April 2008!

This feeling is overwhelming because I had an extra special hour in our dimension and I must, MUST, write it down for future rememberance.

Now, ain't it cool to have DayLight Saving everyday?

My first DayLight Saving..

OHhhh, which means, Australia is only 2 hours ahead in time, starting officially today! *excited*

ps: awaits 2009's DayLight Saving.

Saturday, 5 April 2008

Cheng cheng cheng..

ps: more later ok? haha yeah, I'm done with accounting assignment! Thanks to MC, Jia Yen and CH and my cute tutor. XP

Tomorrow

By tomorrow, I would have sat for my Law paper by 1 pm. Not knowing what to expect from it, I'm undoubtedly nerve-wrecked (Ask Jia Yen lol), though a part of me do anticipate it, because Law is very interesting, though confusing.

Ahhh~ Ironies..

By tomorrow, after the test, I would have gone for my second meditation session, which I'm in dire need, after all the confusions (stirred by a pair of people) and anxieties over exams, kiasu-ness, qualms over assignments, power failure - darkness, I need a break.

I need, in my meditation teacher's words, "to connect with silence".

And then after that, I would have my usual Friday hang-outs with the bunch, and chill before the awaiting hectic weekend.

And then,

  1. Accounting assignment (due Monday)
  2. Microeconomics assignment (due Thursday)
  3. QM mini assignment (due Tuesday)
  4. Microecons - read up +tutorial
  5. Acc - read up + decision making task
  6. Business Law - read up the 15 case laws + tutorial
  7. QM - try to figure out this week's blurred-due-to-boring-lecturer lectures.

And my brother has to choose to have 8 of his friends staying over this weekend.. sigh,

adding on to the plain, dull sister he has, he will also have to introduce a "totally unsociable and work-freak" sister.

Talk about wrong timing.

And then..

I'm anticipating the following weekend.
