Thursday, Cheerful Thursday.

Because:

1. It's almost the end of the week!!! Whee~~

2. National Day is coming!!!!! Excuse to go out Surge of patriotism!!! MERDEKA MERDEKA MERDEKA!

3. I've bumped into Azlifa, my new Maldivian friend, today, and we got to know each other better. I was in awe with all her little stories she's got to offer. How she only meets her captain dad 3-4 times a year but learns a lot from his adventures around the world, how it's like in Maldives, their origins etc.

4. I made new friends with these old couple from Taiwan while visiting their jewelry stall in North Court (on campus). You could tell they were impressed with us being tri-lingual though I insisted our linguistic standard were (you know LAH), if compared to native speakers, mediocre. "You don't have to be the best" were their reply. And from admiring and commenting about the jewelry, we diverted into a light-hearted chat about life in Melbourne, the demographic changes and even Mao Zhe Dong's regime! lol. They reckon the phenomenal loss of culture and traditions (which they regret deeply) in China these days were attributed to the totalitarian regime. Haha, and whilst people come and go around his stall, there we were chatting like neighbours over the fence.

But most importantly, (oh ya, he's Uncle David), we were both HAKKAs and happened to bear the same origins in Jia Yang Province and Xing Ning town! Dad always say Xing Ning was a very small town of modest population, and people were constantly emigrating. Wow, the odds of meeting someone from such similar backgrounds in a foreign country. In 1949, Uncle David's parents moved to Taiwan and then in the 1980's, they immigrated to Australia. Looks like I've gotta do some root checking here. ^^

As delighted as I was, Uncle took it further and insisted that I look out for him anytime I need him. Felt like Grandpa was watching us from above. Was smiling away in lecture. haha.

5. Met Azy in lecture and she later accompanied and took me to ERC to look up a few references for my assignment. Hope that you settle things soon! ^^

6. Made Colin jealous by hogging Jian over the phone. He asked if I have too much saliva! Whatever mannn! haha

7. Derrick just called to confirm our tickets to The Beauty Entrapment, it's next Thursday, days before the due dates of 3 assignments and 1 presentation! Means I should do more now!

haha Adios!

Tuesday. because I can't think of anything better.

Spontaneity rocks!

Another unplanned agenda, Jian Jian waited for me at uni today, while I attended the uninformative graph-drawing workshop. And then we took the tram together to Melbourne Central, sat around for awhile while she hungrily dug into her Sushi rolls. And catched up for a bit. She looked tired.

And then we descended to the train station, and hugged and bid each other goodbye.. And we held each other's glances earnestly before parting at different platforms, taking different trains and finally diverging into different suburbs. Ahh~~ *plays dramatic background music*

Haha. sorry. Got carried away.

Met my gorgeous sea-blue eyes EX- tutor from last semester today in the library!!! It was so unexpected I haven't seen him in months, but I had no guts to say hi. He looked pretty caught up with copying notes from many thick books. And then the few of us continued our quest of finding a spot in the crowded library, up and down from basement to 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor. And when I finally came down again to the ground floor, he wasn't there anymore. ='(.. It's so difficult to meet the same person twice in campus. Next time, I will say Hi. =)

And yes, I realized that the Olympics is held once in 4 years. I distinctly remembered when I was 10(2000), IOC granted China the right to host in 2008, and how China was overjoyed, thus naturally I thought Olympics was held once in 8 years.

Doink, did you vanish when it was held in Athens in 2004?

Maybe. But yea, now I know.

SO PEOPLE, IT'S 2012 IN LONDON OK!!! *not that you're unaware*

Anyway, back to my work.

BYE!

Ahh. What's the odds of meeting the same person 3 times a day? Smile..

One World, One Dream

An end after 16 days, 2000 hours of sports events.

A merry grand unforgettable finale.

Didn't expect to see Leona Lewis and David Beckham!! And Lee Hom, Kelly Chan, Jackie Chan etc.

Enticing fireworks.

In the commentators words, "China has surprised us with their extent of openness, the way they let their hair down!"

Ahhh~~ Stayed up to watch the interviews and forum with Australian medalists. And a very moving and inspiring footage covering the whole event. Still going on but have to sleep now =(

The next will be in London 2016, wow we'll be in our twenties then!

Ahh~~ what an exciting and joyous way to end your weekend!

Good night!

How I wished..

I never knew I'd missed you so much. I thought I've adapted to life without you, because I've haven't been thinking of you much lately.

At one point of time, I've begun to wonder if it's because you've never existed in my childhood and only did a mere 3 years ago that you weren't significant enough. I feel like kicking myself hard now for even letting this thought crossed my mind, I should never have.

Until I heard your voice again, and the familiar, very much missed name you have for me, I was overwhelmed, all the emotions rushed back to me, the inexplicable tears.. I want to to hold you in my arms, like how we always do.

All this while, I've just pushed the thought of you away, I didn't want to think of missing you, nothing could be helped you know? Sometimes when I looked back at those pictures and videos, I hear myself chuckle at your seemingly innocent expressions. But sometimes I fabricate excuses to try to avoid things associated to you, unconsciously, I can't help it, it's so silly, after all, it doesn't change this circumstance.

I hate to think that I'd always be missing out on this stage of your life, having to forgo your first-times, our first-times.. and having to be so far way from you for years to come. It's never a pleasant thought, never. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if your impression of me next time would be of vague images in between many empty slots?

I miss you a lot, even if you don't comprehend now, I hope that one day you'd realize that I love you very much and I'd do all it takes to fill those empty slots up.

ps: I'm fine.

A long day

It has been a long rainy gloomy day.

With no umbrella. Just my hoodie.

And had a brain-challenging afternoon trying to figure BPA out with Catherine. Fried my brain.

And went to see Trevor, my lecturer, without appointment, I was just too eager to get help.

But of course he declined, he said he wasn't free. He looked pretty grim.

And I thought, "Oh no, who else? Just spare me 3 mins?" I have all my questions in my mind.

Then I decided to put it aside.

Then I tried to figure my accounting lecture for today as I wasn't paying the least bit attention. It did make abit more sense.

Next up was Macro, and thank god Azy was there. After lecture, I decided to call it a day, escaped the library and went to MyCube for coffee with her, hot soothing mocha, decaf of course, I needed my sleep tonight. Had a relaxing session. While the rain persisted.

And then I squeezed my way through the tram and train rides, not having a seat more than half the time. Peak time. Time to go home for working class people. Wanted to do Sudoku but digressed when I noticed the "expert" level.

I finally secured myself a seat in Ivanhoe, and took out my lecture notes, which later proved a bad idea, as the words were dancing and leaping joyously before my eyes. So I put them away and took my Ipod out instead, I needed Josh Groban, only to realize the battery died on me. T.T

So the last resort was to sleep and there I went nodding away, sometimes knocking into the lady beside me, and occasionally nodding backwards, hitting the bar. *ouch*

And I slept even more in the bus, so much more that I missed my stop. T.T Thank god it wasn't too far a walk from home. Just dark.

Finally, sluggishly, I dragged myself up the slope leading to my house and as I drew closer. I knew it wouldn't disappoint me, and I braced myself for a warm, cozy welcome when..

I can't find my keys.

Oh great.

Then I called my brother and thank god (again), he was on the train, 4 stops away from Eltham, which according to my estimation, would just be a good 15 minutes away.

And I thought, ah this ain't that bad, though pitch black, at least it wasn't that cold.

Of course one shouldn't be too hopeful.

Barely 3 minutes later, it started to pour heavily and the winds started to pick up. I paced up and down the platform to keep myself warm. And put Jay Chou's songs on loud speaker, to keep me company. =) And watched some video clips of my baby sister singing. =')

But my hands were freezing and my shoulders started to give way.

Darn winter.

Darn windy rainy gloomy winter.

THANK GOD it only lasted for 40 minutes.

My brother came back and I found my keys in his car. Received a fair bit of lecture for being so careless.

But I was so overwhelmed, I didn't mind, I knew, nothing could go worse, nothing else existed to deter me further,

I was truly home. =)

Phew!

Ahh~~ Just submitted my Generating the Wealth of Nations essay online. 12.38 am. Fried brains. Never used my brains that much.

Next in line:

  • BPA assignment : Prays that my lecturer replies my email soon and will be willing to see me and my group to clear up some doubts. And start researching on Risk Management. Even the sound of it makes me wanna sleep. It's GONNA BE INTERESTING. Yes.

  • Gen Wealth Essay research (yes again).

  • And others which I don't feel like facing now. haha. Let's leave that for days to come.

Now I'm faced with external pressures to blog, apparently Singapore provides insufficient entertainment. haha. will try my best la.

Dinner - ride back:

My brother treated (no really la~ he just paid first) me Nando's for dinner!! Yummy. and no dishes to wash. =D And he allowed me to select the songs we listened to on his NEW (all thanks to me) Ipod during our train ride. AND we waited for the lady next to us to leave her seat and dived straight for the newspaper she left behind. Not for the news, sadly. For the FUN GAMES page (and which my horoscope read that I'm full of attraction today), where he did Sudoku on the left and I did Crosswords on the right. Didn't complete it due to incompetency, but brother prefers to address it as "lack of time" and "no mood". Chucked the newspaper back where it was. As instructed. "Don't bring back rubbish la~"

Back Home, while lazing on sofa, eating dessert, watching So You Think You Can Dance:

On another note, my brother was so mean. I'd never forget how he just literally kicked me (lightly, but still) with his smelly socks on. Like which he has been wearing in his smelly shoes for the whole day. Just because I laughed at corrected his mandarin.

苍蝇 = mosquitto wor.. How can?

Sometimes you just have to realise that you can't be right all the time.

Can you see how pointless this post is and how I'm doing this just for the sake of you.

ah. good night. *going crazy at 12.58 am*

This semester

This semester certainly demands more than the last.

Starting this week, we'll basically have an average of 2 research-based assignments due, each week till semester break in the end of September.

On top of our usual readings, especially my history (Generating the Wealth of Nations) subject, we have tutorial works and lectures to catch up with.

It could get very discouraging at some point, being so time-consuming and all.

Like how the history readings can get quite appealing, but 100-200 pages (averaging from 80 onwards) of them per week just takes up too much of my time for other tasks.

And how I'm trying to get something out of Business Process Analysis, which seemed so mundane yet sits as a fundamental understanding behind accounting information system.

And how I'm aware of my inadequacy in knowledge about the economy, which is supposedly complementary alongside my course, yet am doing nothing much about it. Financial papers here I come! Whee?

Which makes me miss sciences, esp Chem and Physics! haha. ok out of topic.

And how I longed for a job but didn't really put enough effort in searching for it.

And how I'd miss my holidays and look forward to leisure times. ( But I've decided to watch this particular play in uni next week in the midst of assignments no matter what! =D)

BUT.

While fumbling through my uni portal, I stumbled upon the quotes my lecturer would always put up every week. Funny how I've never given them much attention.

Going into the fourth week of the semester, these were quotes from the past weeks..

Quote of the Week - 3

Marie Curie

"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.
Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."

Hmm.. yes I ought to try to understand the logic and applicability of materials I read.

Quote of the Week - 2

Albert Einstein

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."

Hmmm.. look deeper? into er.. haha NATURE, that I like.

And ultimately, during week 1 itself!

Quote of the Week - 1

"Nothing is interesting if you are not interested."

Of course! That should be the way, right right? *ohm*

I like what I read, I like what I read, I like what I read!

Okay. I'll see how I progress this week!

=D

Of Lunch down the road

Today, my bro and I were in such rush that I (only me) didn't bring my hand phone out, which proved much inconvenience later. =S But I survived through the day. =D

Note to self: Sleep earlier and do not snooze the alarm more than once.

Then, I was late for lecture, and for the first time in the semester I didn't get a proper seat, way at the back. So basically my lecturer wasn't in my scope of sight and all I could hear was his projected voice, with mountains of heads blocking my view.

Interesting though, I felt like this was the only BPA lecture I focused and sat through without doodling. (normally my lecture notes would be adorned by sunflowers, bears and coconut trees) haha =p Maybe I should always be late.

Thanks to Jia Yen, for informing Jian about the time to meet and where. And thankfully, without the phone, I still managed to meet her at her uni - Monash, in Parkville.

Coincidentally, it was their Club's day, sort of, so the ambiance was carnival-like. They even had a competition (some relay and noodle eating competition) which attracted the crowd and people were cheering away. Smuggled waffles and hotdogs for lunch. Yum. Was close to trying out the food in her cafetaria, but somehow nobody attested to that, which makes me even more curious of the food there. haha apparently, as I was told, "Looks are deceiving".

Met her friends there, and was introduced =D They were really approachable and were so close to each other. Kinda envy the close-knit community over at their's, at least you know you're bound to bump into friends you make in lectures and tutorials. And they have their very own LOCKERS!

AND they have this place for animals, such as SNAKE. Behind the glass though. Reminded me of Harry Potter lol.

Random conversation:

Me: Everyone here is studying Pharmacy. Maybe I should talk about debits and credits.

Minh (Jian's friend): What? Diabetics?

Just goes on proving that I was in the right campus. haha.

Thanks Jian. =DD

Hmm..

Today, while I was waiting to meet up with Jian for our tram date, there I was wandering at the North Court when I noticed a junk sale, going dirt cheap!

Books for 50 cents, clothes and shoes for $1!!!

They looked relatively new though nonetheless they were second-hands.

But no one was anywhere to be seen near that place, I wonder why.

And there I was squatting down to look at the books messily cluttered on a piece of cloth (along with shoes and clothes), something caught my eye.

"The Road Less Travelled and Beyond"

And then I found myself thinking, feeling a tad bit melancholic. The familiarity of it - our high school literature poem - made it stood out amongst the others.

*snaps* back to reality. I stared at the book and decided, why not? I looked left and right profusely, trying to spot the seller, but he/she was no where to be seen.

And caught two other sellers looking at me. I tried to signal to them, but lousy, it didn't get through. So there I was trying to figure what next when..

***

"Hey there, you warming yourself up?"

*blank stares* " Sorry?"

"Today's a cold day huh.." (Maybe the way I squatted made me looked like I was seeking warmth at a fireplace)

"Yeahhhh..."

*sees book in my hand*

"Ohhh , you want that? Sorry I was sitting around the corner, that's why you couldn't see me. "

"That's fine. Are these all yours? "

"Yeahhh.. that's 50 cents for that book."

*thrusted 50 cents into her extended palms. felt weird*

"Thanks. Not too many people today huh?"

"Yeah, probably because it's cold. Thank you and good day." And I left.

"Have a nice day.."

***

Gosh just the right book I needed today. It's about "the spiritual growth in an age of anxiety" Interesting ideas.

And as I was reading while walking, I turned back to see where the lady was.

And then I saw.

She was meditating behind the clothes rack. Her look all serene and calm.

I wonder why is she selling her belongings for such a low price. Some of the books are even gifts from her friends, as they bear personal messages on the cover.

I wonder why is she giving them all way.

At least one of them is with me now, for a reason.

ps: I missed the tram Jian!

Sometimes

Sometimes when things go off track

we'll just have to face it with an open mind,

and an open heart, albeit any hard feelings.

Sometimes

all it takes is a reality check

Sometimes

all it takes is that grain of truth.

ps: nah. not the onions.

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

I don't want to deal with it anymore

Warning: Don't read.

Wei Han says I'm lazy, well I'll fill you in then, just a little. Don't ask.

Yesterday was the day

I cried the hardest ever this year, or in many years, if you'd like.

My vision blurred, I almost injured myself while cutting the vegetables.

My eyes were swollen and they hurt so much that

even when my brother came back, he noticed.

He didn't ask,

but he understood.

After all, he has gone through that before.

And I could tell, he didn't enjoy it, at all.

He was hurt before too.

He said, at a certain point of time in life, everyone would be, whether they like it or not.

I know he's right. But..

I thought I could control my tears, I thought all I needed to do was stay out of its way

And I did, successfully, at least in the past

for I always avoided it

But it had to be yesterday.

It had to be the day my brother came home late

but I knew I had to face it

I have to learn to survive.

I thought I could call Jian to talk about it

or contact people or write emails.

After all, I would, in normal circumstances.

But, I felt embarrassed.

Thankfully, I've recovered, after much help from brother.

But I'll never want to face it

ever again.

It's way too much for me to be handled.

The process is painful and the healing takes time.

So, next time,

I'll just have to

leave it all to my brother to cut those stupid onions.

Bye.

ps: Yes, my life was that interesting.

pps: You were warned.

To Jian

To Jian,

my partner in crime in spur-of-the-moments!

3 unplanned agendas:

1. Belated birthday Japanese dinner with my bro (AND his gf), me, you and your bro. haha, thank god you went, not too bad being lightbulbs eh! Thanks bro!

2. Visit to the Crown's (CASINO YOU KNOW!), but haha didn't bring passport so couldn't enter. Went to Arcade instead. Played Air Hockey with Bro and Jian, ended up with backache. Sigh, yes I'm old.
The outer view of casino. haha

Air Hockey!!!

Only ADULTS allowed. (not really but sort of)

3. Spontaneous sleepover at Jian's in Camberwell! No PJs, no toothbrush, no sleeping bag whatsoever. Just crashed her place and had the best night ever. Disturbing people online, witnessing her bro's (yes BARBIE DOLL KEN,YOU!) indulgence in anime, looking up her photos (and cute people in them muahaha), TALKING about them, sharing stories and finally going to bed at 2.30 am.

Only to be talking some more til 4 am. Hope you had a good night sleep though, with me squashing you on your single bed.

Woke up at 10.30 am and continue chatting. Then Ken served the best hot breakfast ever , home-made garlic bread plus hot yummy soup! On a cold winter morning.. ahh~ haha

Then lingered around her cozy (yes clutters = cozy) home, trying to download my history notes and listening to the good old Jay Chou songs, ah~~

And finally left at 3.30 pm! Thanks Jian and Ken for the homely hospitality! Thank you Jian for listening =) Don't think too much ok, focus on your presentation!

And I was quite smart, because I was quite brave to get down at some unknown street and found a shorter route home!!!! hahahah, but Jian (and my bro) didn't sound too impressed. Whatever, Boo!

Ah. Now back to some serious stuff. Bah~

Friday, 1 August 2008

Ahh, rainy day with a rainy mood.

I'm now in uni alone, waiting to meet up with Jian in the city. It's raining outside. Crazy winds. My poor umbrella's condition was exacerbated, and I'm better off not using it because I get wet anyway.

And it's very embarrassing because every 2 minutes my umbrella gets blown inside out. And I'll be forcing it back into shape by pushing and pulling violently. On the streets. Jul laughed at me and said things like that only happen on people like me.

So ya anyway, I'm going to do Jia Yen's tag, even though she didn't tag me. Come back you, don't run away, don't worry, I won't tag.
