When you're no longer a teen..

you're 20!

Here's a post to dedicate my thank-yous to you, you, you and you! (In order of occurence)

Firstly, to dad and mum + granny, aunts and family, for providing me a loving and nurturing family, for instilling the values I hold so closely to my heart! =) And for the pre-departure birthday cake and the beautiful, precious pairs of earrings!

To [S][A][M][P][A][T] Clan, for my first ever surprise birthday party, it was really memorable and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for the awesome day ever. I didn't expect the gathering to turn out as a birthday surprise and sorry MJ for being mad at you! Especially happy to meet you UK/US/Taiwan peeps (and of course the Msia bunch) some of whom I haven't met for 2-3 years!! I actually wrote a proper post about it and saved it in my laptop, which now - sigh. RIP. Anyway, you guys are the best, I'm so thankful we are one big family - with members around the globe preaching the teachings of SAMPAT hahaha. Welcome Leying, the latest baptised member! And Thanks SAMPAT for the birthday bag, it's my new uni bag now!

To Mengs, because you are Mengs.

To Gugu, for the beautiful bracelet =)

To Sara, for your card and snail mail all the way from Brissie! Was reading it on the morning of my birthday on the train, smilling the widest smile, can you picture it? It was the most beautiful feeling. Catch up soon on Skype!

To Rachael, for your birthday blog post, and our 1-day spent back in Malaysia. Having the deepest heart-to-heart talk with our imaginations of the past and future playing as the landscape, followed by a hearty 10-song karaoke at the cosy, 2-sitter karaoke box in 1U! Thanks Rach for a memorable day.. I wish you the best in the UK.

To Kor and XW, for the gorgeous purse! And to Kor, for tolerating all my ah-forgot-keys-forgot-phone moments! haha! Promise I'll be more careful!

To Eric, Jillian, Julz and Brendan, for accompanying me in the afternoon, just reminiscing about Shanghai, laughing and watching the world go by at Breadtop! Thanks to Bhong, we now talk in a currency known as "Dumplings" and GDP - Gross Dumplings Product! haha, "OMG this AUD 1 donut is actually worth 10 Dumplings in Shanghai!!"

To Xia, for spending the birthday eve with me, am glad our friendship lasted as long as now, you're one of my first International friends from Uni!

To Noelle, for the beautiful clover necklace and sweet notes of wishes accompanying it! We must spend more time together alright, enjoy ur ski trip!

To Jian, for the spending the birthday eve as well with me in Max Brenners and your precious gift - My first ever perfume - Harajuku Lovers Fragrance! And for being a listener, and for your generous advice and care.. And that shoulder to cry/rely on.. Love you.

To Jia Yen, Pei Wen, MC, Andrea, Chen Hao, Jeremy, Kwee Loong, Kuan Jhun, Vern and Wai Kit, for the birthday dinner at Crowns Casino - definitely a different experience, having to take pictures cautiously lest we get caught by security! It was awesome company, food, "speed-dating" lol, psychology tests (the Z - sex addicts haha), bunny ears picture etc! And for the after-drinks at Trunk, thanks MC for the Apple Bramble and Wai Kit, for the beer (though I only had a few sips haha). Sorry I was so depressed after the drink, I told you guys, alcohol is no spirit-lifter for me. Now you believe me! I think I kept talking about being heartbroken. haha. And to the gals for organising the dinner and allowing me to stay over the night! And to Jia Yen and Pei Wen, for your gifts and Andrea, for the birthday cake! THANKS!

To Jeremy, for the precious gift that I still think I don't deserve. And for the audit textbook LOL. Thank you.

To Eric & Julz, my Shanghai buddies, thanks for you-know-what..

To Meng Kit, for calling from Malaysia, lol that was really a surprise! lol you're hillarious! And not to forget our rushy-no-one-cares lunch in Malaysia lol and our ever ever refreshing msn convos haha..

To everyone of you for your birthday wishes via SMS, facebook and MSN! Trust me when I say I take every word to heart and appreciate them lots.. =)

A special dedication to my dearest sister, Mei Ting, for your birthday card - it's so pretty I have it on my table now..love you! And to Mei Yen, my best friend - for your maturity, your coolness, your ears, your tears, your hugs, love you sister, I really do.

And lastly to METLINK Melbourne, for the free public transportation all day! hahahah

Hope I didn't leave anyone out!

Daddy says, birthday is also a day to reflect.

I have to say, I am a blessed person with allthe love and care from family and friends, and a life that has been nothing but blissful. Surely I go through ups and downs, just like everyone else, but never alone, never for long. Sometimes I wonder how lucky I am to earn these blessings..

I hope to be a better person:
1. Be stronger mentally,
2. Love and laugh more, and
3. Spread the love - stay in touch with loved ones and always give a helping hand!

Personal goals -
1. Studies - cruise through my final sem with upmost spirit!
2. Career - be more proactive!
3. Health - errr.. exercise more?

Birthday Wish:
1. Me + family + friends find happiness always.
2. Undisclosed..

LOVE YOU DAD!

Updates!

Hellooooooooooo all, guess you have been staring at the same post far too long to continue visiting XD

Weeks leading up to the break were hectic but let's skip those parts. Highlights of the past week or so:

Tuesday - Buka Puasa with Azy

Took a train to North Melbourne where Azy lives and was introduced to her housemates =) Buka-ed puasa at 6 pm and ate Finaz's signature dish - Ayam Malas (Lazy Chicken) XD. Sedap!

Then had some girly session with Azy before leaving her place at 8 pm! Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, hope you're enjoying yourself back home now! And thanks for your gift =) Can't wait to see you again!

That night led into an unforseen travel "adventure" on trains and buses due to railway tracks repair. Travelling time = 2 hours hohoho. Witnessed verbal vulgarities on the way home, resulting in grimaces and big-eyed listeners on the bus. lol. Thanks to adventure LIVE update on facebook mobile, my trip felt shorter!

Friday - Work, KFC and Peeping

After work, met Boon and we ate KFC!! I've been craving it I smell it on the train! Cravings not satisfied though, ain't as finger-licking goood as imagined.

Boon

Boon and I went to Melbourne Central to buy her sim card but ended up buying my stuff instead paiseh. She then brought me back to Melb Uni gym to do some "peeping" haha. =X

Hope you're enjoying yourself in Adelaide with family now!

Friday Night - Download Craze

As we had some leftover internet qouta due that night before 12 am, bro asked to download as much as possible. So spend the entire night thinking of songs to download, raced against time! Thanks to those who recommended me songs! 75 new songs wheee ~ =)

Did a fair bit of Google Earth-ing too :D Thanks to YOU!

Saturday - Sleepover

After work rushed to the bus stop only to realize that I left my handphone at home lol. Which explained my (and Chen Hao's) tardiness for Andrea's Sleepover! Sorry!

Joined Jia Yen, Pei Wen, MC and Audrey at Andrea's mini sleepover :D Her new house, located in Tarneit (along Werribee line) is gorgeous. Luxurious yet cozy home. The night was spent away watching Bewitched and The Terminal, (on her oh-my-god 50 inch plasma TV !!!) and some of them played MahJong and Chor Dai Dee :D

Only pic in my camera. Sweetnya. XD

Had a mini girl talk later wheeeee XD No idea what time we slept.

Sunday - Volunteering at High Vibes Music Festival, High Street Northcote

The next thing I knew, it was 7.30 am. Thanks to Andrea for fetching me to the train station to catch the 8.16 am and I left to the city to meet up with my cousin.

LEFT my handphone at Andrea's house, I seriously can't believe myself. Reached Flinders and used the public phone to call my phone and bothered Jia Yen to use my phone to sms my bro, Xia and my cousin to tell them what's happened, and to meet as scheduled. Thanks Jia Yen >.<

Met up with Peggy and we took the tram and bus to Northcote!

As her shift was from 11-2pm and mine from 2-5 pm, I roamed around myself in the morning. The weather was awesome!

Northcote Municipal Office (also Kidszone for the day)

Mini brass band :D

Working on a design with used lighters :D (morning)

Saxophonist!! :D

Such convenient prams!

Peggy

Witches?

I even shopped for abit, how can one resist beautiful blouses and jackets going for AUD 5 each? haha then went back to take over Peggy's shift at 2 pm.

All afternoon we collected donations, calling out "Gold Coin Donation for OXFAM" and I also gave out the programs for the day. Xia joined shortly and together we worked till 5.30 pm. Sheer joy :D Most people were very generous =)

After others took over our shifts, Xia and I walked around, by that time, the crowd has built up in tenfold. The ambiance was all merry and gay, with street jazz bands, staged rock bands etc. Some even danced to the music :D

Some horn-like instrument

Lighter guy!!! (evening)

Rock band! :D

Jazz like band

Drinking on the roof? hehe

All huddled for a good beer in the evening

Xia with hers :D haha (Tasted like tea!)

Me, Ally (Coordinator) and Xia

Went back by train to City with Xia. Then went over to Jia Yen's to collect my hp >.<

Reunited with Peggy for dinner at Hungry Jacks! Cravings was once and for all - satisfied. The burgers tasted heavenly. So yummy I feel hungry now XD

Monday - Karaoke Session
Met up with Jia Yen, Andrea, Pei Wen, Mao mao, MC and Jian Hao to sing sing sing at Party World. Party World looked like a 5-star lounge and we had a whale of a time! Listening to beautiful voices, watching MVs adorned by lengzais like LeeHom, enjoying sensational lyrics, topped with good drinks + food, what's not to love? hehe

We then had dinner at Coconut House :D Yummy chicken rice!

When going home, I took the wrong train to Epping. OMG. Was engrossed in bro's friend's Archie comics (Jughead Double Digest!!!!!) when I looked out of the train and thought, hmmm Rushall? Nope, definitely not my line. >.<

Got down at Merri when it poured heavily! Waited for train back to city for 20 minutes, then stopped at Clifton Hill. Waited another 5 minutes for my ACTUAL TRAIN. haha reached home nonetheless, tq to bro who picked me up :D

Then Skyped with mum, sis and a little of dad for 2 hours. Engaging!!!! :D

**

Slept in today, one of the rare moments for weeks!! haha Felt good :D

Replied all my overdued emails and checked out this link my cousin Ying sent me!

These are some of the winning entries of Love Your Body Campaign!

Saturday

Had dinner with my cousins and family. Uncle will be going back to Malaysia tomorrow, have a safe trip home! Brother treated with his first pay! Rather sneakily, as he excused himself to the "toilet" and preceded my uncle by paying at the counter while we were still eating! Ahh save us from another I-pay-la-no-I-pay-la and money-shoving-back-and-forth moments. :D

We ate Peking Duck with rice cake, tauke and black noodles!! YUMMY! Good stuff.

Pics at Cousin's blog :D

Anyway I'm so glad I've found someone here who hasn't watched Transformers 2! Everyone who watched it seem to be promoting it with upmost enthusiasm. Girls and guys alike. And all swooning over Megan Fox (and her sexuality?).

Sam yuk yuk. Deal yea cuzzie, this Wednesday! :D Update me with the time!

I'm going on a ski day trip on Monday :D Ahh.. how much should I wear?

Till then, Adios~ have fun!

With Pei Wen outside of Pancake Parlour after sending MM & RQ off to Ballarat
Food was scrumptious albeit a tad small in portion for it's big price

Potato pancake + fish fillet + yummy wedges with traditional cheese

=)

**
A rather unenthusiastic moment on the train
while looking ahead at the rainy weather.
Thinking of separation (day after day) after all the fun
Everyone has holiday plans from now on
Feel so lonely at that time

but of course those unpleasant feelings were quickly overtaken
by the warmth I felt
when greeted with the lush greenery
back at home

Home Sweet Home

(which I left for more than 48 hours)
=)

**

At about 2.45 pm
I left to visit Anne at her residence down Main Road.
Anne is my first friend in Eltham, knew her last year on the train =)
Today her husband, Elvin was at home as well.
They'll be leaving tomorrow for their big adventure of 5 whole weeks

Gave her this Chinese tea set I bought from Malaysia
since our meetings always revolve around having "Tea"

=)

The afternoon was so peaceful,
sipping Chinese green tea
while overlooking their picturesque garden (ahh..puts me to shame)
and the 7 parrots & cockatoos enjoying their sugar coated bread and seeds
because "they love them sweet"
and indulging in stories after stories of adventures,
of pride in their Welsh ethnicity,
of ancient history
and of the current affairs.

Not to forget a joyous tour around their beautiful cozy house
where walls after walls are adorned with
paintings/monuments/sculptures
from the 53 countries they have traveled to,
each telling a story of its own.

When it was about time to leave
I whipped out my camera
and took pictures of Elvin and Anne around their house

Thought of taking a pic of the 3 of us
but being me
I have no idea how the timer works
SO

~I did it myyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyy~

"Look at the camera in the mirror and smile!"

"Are you sure about this?"

Boy were they amazed! hahahaha.

Anne insisted that I take this with me
to "lighten up your room"
=)

Thank you for making me feel so loved!

PS: Bless you.

Dear Mum

Happy Birthday. Thank you for being my sunshine, shedding light on the path I take, never really giving me answers but allowing me to make decisions. When I make wrong ones (more often than always) you readily pick me up from my pieces. Can't imagine how directionless life will be without your guidance and love.
I respect your wisdom and capability, I aspire to be like you one day. You always say, when a problem occurs, the first person you should come to terms with is the person in the mirror. Don't judge others but always look for the better. I admire your calmness during stormy times and how you always look at the bigger picture, as the Chinese saying goes, the bigger fish at the end of the bait, so unlike my berserk moments; most of all, I admire your simplicity, generousity and selflessness. Ah..one day mum, one day.
On your birthday, I pray that you'll be healthy always, less stressed out from work burden and be happy always. I love you.
