Have spent past few days touring Melbourne with Rachel!
Though draining, it's great to be able to explore the city with good company =) Visits to places which I would never have made otherwise, all thanks to Rach..
Traveling with a future architect sure is different, everywhere we visit seemed to have a touch of art, flavor and an amazing story to tell! Who'd know that Federation Square (which I've been to in the past for a number of times) had such a clever history behind it? Every tile, glass, step and their designs were purposed-built and served their respective roles of recollecting cultural, social, political and environmental aspects of Melbourne into a square in the heart of the city.
Who'd had known that Yarra River was named due to a miscommunication arising between the Birrarung's and the Europeans? And who'd had known that if you looked up at the mirrors on the entrance of the Yarra Building, you would see the reflection of the Yarra river due to the angles the mirrors are positioned? Amazing architecture!
Hmm.. definitely an eye opener.. Thanks to Judy for the amazing tour. Though she mistaken my name for "Mischa" throughout albeit my many attempts to pronounce it as "Mei Shan". "Is your 'n' silent, so that it's pronounced as mee-sha?" Oh well. haha. Rachel thinks it's kinda cool. haha Me too~ *grins sheepishly*
3 more days of exploration!
PS: Pics up in Facebook. =D
