Happy Birthday Pa and Daphne!

This is the first year my dad and I are not celebrating our birthdays together.. Kinda miss those years..

But anyway, thanks to all for the smses, facebook wishes, calls and blog post dedications..from Malaysia and Aus.. Really appreciate them, warms me up from within. =)


And to all who came for dinner at Universal's last night : Jia Yen, Pei Wen, Jian, Chen Hao, Ming Chin, Ming Hui, Yee Von and the new member in Melbourne, JULIANA!!

It was a lovely dinner and I love the cake!


All the laughters and teasing, and TQ to everyone for making an effort to make yesterday the least anti-meishan day ever! haha.. but can do better! hahaha


Indeed, a cold yet warm birthday!

There I was taking a long stretch when I woke up at 7.20 am, walked out and realized the my clock was an hour slower than the right time shown on the kitchen clock! It was 8.20 am and my train was coming at 8.35 am. Ah~~~~~

Resulting in me taking the 4.15 pm lecture, downing a strong cappucino to keep awake, slept quite late the night before. And still struggling to keep awake during macroeconomics. gah.

The thing I saw after the lecture was this..

And instantly, happiness was there! And I snapped photos with my phone camera and camera. And some China girls looked at me. And followed. haha such a beautiful sight!

Afternoon tea

Was packing/testing out my pirated DVDs (to be smuggled over) when Meng Kit suggested to go out for a drink. Hesitant at first, but since it was just nearby and he could fetch, we agreed to meet up at 2.30 pm. Thanks MK for the ride!

Alvin, Meng Kit and Mengs came and we all had a good catch up! And dwelled more in each other's future course/route/career path. And the guys treated us cakes and drinks!

Glad we met up, after so long. Makes me feel good of the old times, yet nostalgic, after all we're all going our separate ways. How would things be 5 years later?

Doctors/dentists (haha)? Engineers? Accountants?

Be it the northen/southern/ mid hemisphere that we'll inevitably be in, keeping in touch would do its job of keeping us all intact. =)

Family times

Thurs

Aunt Lee Kuen took the 3 sisters to Canton-i. Yummy filling dim-sums! And bought me mooncakes and meat floss, ah, long missed! Thanks gugu!


Fri

Dad took the 3 daughters to Kura, One World. Such divine delicacies! And thumbs up to the tranquil ambiance, where we dined in a small cozy hut-like cubicle, with the accompaniment of some soothing traditional Japanese music. Baby sister was ever chatty and found the service button -which we pressed several times throughout - naturally appealing.


Sat

Aunt Grace and I watched Red Cliff at GSC, 1U. Prior to the movie, we collected some tidbits from the supermarket, 3 types of sotong (which we later decided unenthusiastically that they smelled far too repulsive to be consumed in the cinema), peanuts, plums, peeled orange skin etc.


The movie lived up to our expectations (from the trailer, that is), and boy was I slapped out of the war zone just when the plot spiced up. If the cast, storyline and audience-friendly flow were to be any indication, we agreed that the sequel will be equally anticipating, if not more.


And Takeshi's kinda cute interesting as the mastermind. So is Zhang Zhen as Sun Quan. And Tony.


But. There was this one thing about being seated with these two ah mas and uncles. Who, without reservation, fed the whole cinema effortlessly - with that voice they project - their comments and the history/origin of the characters/wars/events, throughout the show. Which I find rather annoying and distracting.


And which, according to my aunt, was even more annoying than me plunging into her, ooh-ing and ahh-ing -she said she wanted to slap warn me at one point of time - whenever there was a blood scene.


Oh well, it was still a well-spent RM 11, very worthwhile. And yes Aunt, tidbits rule over popcorns. Cheaper too. haha.


And I bought Mei Ting a new Barney episode, The Journey to the Land of Make Believe, gosh, it was FULL of imaginations, so good I think it's the best Barney episode I've ever watched.

Maybe also because I've been watching the zoo and christmas ones for only a kazillion times, with her, of course. =p



And Kah Chong called and accused me of forgetting him we talked for almost 1 hour. He's still him. =) Hopefully you'll be able to decide soon, almost everyone would go through this, don't worry ok!


And I didn't have dinner because I ate 3 durians and I'm pretty much stuffed.




And now realised that oh-no, my weekend is half gone!




ps: I really ought to feel contented.

Last minute

It's a last minute decision.

But I'll have an extra weekend here.


Despite having to miss two days of uni. who cares?

Pondering

Sunday

Dim Sum breakfast with Famous 5 and family. Appetizing meal with a plus of warm, long missed company to render a perfect Sunday morning. =)

Afternoon: A trip to Tesco and 1U to get the list done and to buy brother an Ipod Classic.


Monday

Finished Teen Idol (Meg Cabot) while waiting for Chloe and Jo at AC. Met Tick Loong before they arrived, he's still the same old cheeky him. =p

Ordered a kaya + chocolate waffle and soon the 3 of us indulged in reminiscence of our college days, crazes, funny moments.. Vowed to The Fellowship of The Australian Coin and hugged them goodbye before leaving. Felt a little emotional, felt the past familiarity, not a tad of difference since we went our separate ways. =')


At night, Grace picked Zhen Shan and I out to Centrepoint for dinner at The Black Canyon. Dining with both working ladies clad smartly in their formal attires, I'd say though that we are still young at hearts - The 3 PTS Puay Chai frogs. =p Did a fair bit of catching up and the night was naturally pleasant, discussing about our futures and *ahem* personal current affairs.

Tuesday

Baby sister was at one of her best behaviors and we reveled in a session of Going-to-school-with-friends where we played along with our 7 toy friends, me being the music teacher and she being the PE "Hey jump like me" teacher.

Met Jian on MSN and she was extraordinarily high apparently because she was"deprived of testosterones". Thanks for the support, High Queen Jian! But I'd appreciate it more if you'd stop referring my prince as Prince Caspian The Uncharming. And I'm just as good being Queen Caspian alone, not Queen Caspian of Barbarians.


Felt sorry later that I have to leave sister at home while Aunt Lai Chin took Ying, Jiyian and I to Cineleisure for another movie: The Dark Knight.

But seriously, this is the best blockbuster of the century!


The storyline was riveting between morality and reality, and it did do us due justice for sitting through 2.5 hours of it! Every moment of it was gripping and the plot twisted and complicated in the darkness of the movie, with Batman grimly in the shadows. Also, the Joker, anarchic and "agent of chaos" is portrayed so creepily by the late Heath Ledger, with his twisted smile scars and stories of how he got them.


By and large, I feel that The Dark Knight explores realistically into its characters scope of emotions, and how fiendishly, the Joker takes advantage of humans feeble decisions between self-importance, sacrifices and susceptibility towards their emotions while constructing every dilemma. And its messages are evident how he wants to prove that nobility doesn't stand in our messy, disordered world, how we can be our own baits, how good and evil forces can overlap so easily. And probably well, that there are still some goods in humans.


I was particularly moved when Alfred decided to burn the crucial letter, seeing how the truth was best left unspoken.


It's true that most of us want a hero in our lives, maybe not realizing how their spirits are too, vanquishable, how white knights can be defeated, however moving it was that Batman desires to preserve the faith and protect the beacon amidst the darkness. I wonder..

Batman: Sometimes, truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.

Exercise of the brain

Enjoyed the best 2 days with the merriest, craziest people!

Yesterday, woke up at 6.45 am, and Sara came to visit at 7am. Talked for 3.5 hours non-stop and played with Ting. Thanks for your company, books and those tasty scones!!!

Collected the SPM cert from school and experienced a wild moment when someone waved bye. Soon after went out with Mengs, Wei Han, Ee Ping, Zuzu (for awhile), Meng Jin, Sixuan and Yeng Ying, first to Ipoh Chicken Rice then to Sunway Pyramid. Uncovered those childish "wars" between MJ and Mengs (seriously) way back in form 1, received updates about school and teachers, enjoy the duo "head-sequence" performance by MJ and SX, bullied Ee Ping etc.

We moved from Wendy's to McD and then to Baskin Robin. All for a place to sit down and talk, talk and talk.

All I do is just watch, crack up, fuel up the argument once in a while, sit back and laugh more. =)


Thanks MJ for the ride home!

Consequence: Pulled muscles in jaw and abdomen areas. Endorphins released. But baby sister refused to talk to me ever since I came back. (How, Sara?) T.T



Went out today again, in the name of visiting our BM teacher, Pn. Lim Ser Kien. Unfortunately, due to a course that she had to attend and also, *ahem* EW's amateur organizing skills (XD sorry EW), hence the cancellation of the visit. Which granted us (Hui Peng, Ean Wearn, Chuan Ling, Wei Han and I) another visit to 1u.


We headed off first to the arcade (HOORAY, finally =D) and had two races, then proceeded to a musical coordination sort of game and played games after games of basketball, until Wei Han was finally satisfied that he set a high(er) score (after losing to EW and HP and a bunch of kids). Tsk.


And off we went for lunch at oh-my-I-don't-remember-where, but it definitely scored in terms of design, food and overall ambiance. Our place. Had another laughing episode, esp with EW. Just looking at her expressions makes me tear, what more her silliness, jokes and "unique" phrases!



After two more games of bowling, which was entertaining (with EW's kiasuness) however tiring, Wei Han fetched us (except Chuan Ling) home. Thanks guys. Really.




Result: More endorphins released. More tummy aches from laughing. XD





More moaning about going back.

Counting down =S

Wed

2.30 - 6.15 pm : Met up with Leying, WH, Xiao Wei, Meng Jin and Carmen, and saw Jin Lin at Original Kayu, Aman Suria. Long missed 38 moments, gossips, TVB series craze, future... Laughed the day off. =D


6.40 - 11.00 pm: Aunt Lai Chin took Ying, sis and I for dinner and night movie, Hancock. Dinner at Sushi Zanmai, unique ambiance, but I had no appetite =(. Was convinced that Hancock was an entertaining comedy till I shrieked when the villain's hand got slashed off. Why?!!! Will remember to question cousin bro who insisted that it was a comedy. A bit confused with the ending.

Conclusion: Watch simpler movies.

Though, the night paid off as I got to spend some quality time with Ying, whose new striking magenta hair still amazes me. =D



Thurs:

8.30am: Woke up with a pounding head by sister's daily screams for mum. Found out the source of my headaches, dizziness and loss of appetites for days. =S


10.30 am: Checked Sem 2 timetable at Alloc8. Very inflexible as most classes are full! But I'm getting Fridays off, time to think of ways to make full good use of spare times.


11.20 am: Wonders how I'm going to feel welcome back at Aussie. T.T I'm extremely comfortable with the weather here now, and extremely used to the idea of wearing just a layer of clothes, not doing housework, playing with sister blah. Bah.
