And so, almost a week has passed again. Was not in the best shape for a few days, and with that, paid back some sleep debt (if there even is one). Nevertheless, had some really good times =D
Let's see:
1. Physical Body Examination with cousin sister
In response to her "hey lend me your body parts" request, I had a 2 days 2 nights stay at my cousin Peggy's apartment in the city. Food and bed provided. All I had to do was loan some body parts to be examined repetitively. Among the examinations were the : Chest (breathing), limb-joints, diabetes (blood pressure and foot-melitus, sth like that), orthopedic, thyroid, motor reflex etc.
Apparently, my hands present as a "vulgar deformity", and occasionally my heartbeats were unusually rapid and my blood pressure is low. Other than that, my organs are functioning well, though my reflex (especially my legs) was described as "hyper-reflex" and my cousin had many laughs witnessing my leg jerked "exaggeratedly" every time she hit the muscle. "If only my patients were like you, things would be so much easier and simpler.." (See people, stop saying I'm slow!) Overall, the tests were fine, some very ticklish, some abit uncomfortable, but some, on the contary, felt as if they were some massage (which made me fell asleep =p).
And in the day, I was brought along to RMH (Royal Melbourne Hospital) where Peggy does her clinical training. To be smuggled in as a 1st year Medical Student (visiting), I wore Peggy's formal wear, tied back my hair neatly and was told to "just walk confidently" into wards. There I spent my morning following Peggy performing physcial examinations on patients and doing some history taking. I helped her with miscellanous stuff (eg. supporting a weak patient while she performed a chest examination ) but that sufficed. Generally, the patients were friendly and cooperative, one even wished me good luck in this degree. haha.
Being able to communicate with them lifts my spirit for that morning, though I sometimes glanced around anxiously in fear of being spotted as a non-medical student. Especially when my cousin allowed me to follow her to retrive the patient's progress reports and X-rays. I was sure the doctor beside me casted me some suspicious glances when I pointed to the X-ray and asked "What's this?" (first years ought to at least know that was the lungs we were looking at? I think >.<). Learnt my lesson and kept my mouth shut then after, save for some "Hmms.." and "I see..". Pulled it off, I think, as he appeared to continue with his reports. Had some thinking about the path not taken, but shrugged it off, I mean, what's the point? The road not taken would always arouse curiosity. Guess I'll take some time to completely be convinced. All in all, had a whale of a time catching up with cousin and was introduced to some of her medical friends. All the best in your practical exam, hope I was of some use! =p
2. Dinner with the other cousins and family
Aunt Linda invited me over for dinner and as always, I enjoyed the time spent with my dear cousins, and listening to their updates about their love stories! haah, a pleasure, always. (They are all younger!) Had one of the best dinners I ever had here, with my much missed dishes of curry chicken, herbal chicken, duck, siu-yok, steamed egg, vegie etc. Watched a Singaporean comedy, 爱都爱都, and laughed my night away. =) See you all back home soon!
3. The Final Destiny of Harry Potter
is revealed at last (to me, that is).
Spent my whole Sunday reading it and it was truly satisfying. So well-woven was the plot of the series, linking them all so convincingly. The final outcome was engineered so indigenously that most would attest to as a memorable ending to this long spellbinding saga. Twists, turns, revelations and surprises rendered its transfixion, and you could say that I was anchored to my bed from day to night, and its impact lingers till now. Whoa, I'm still blown sideways.
3.5 Watched A Beautiful Mind
Starred Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris. Multiple award-winning movie, and nonetheless, beautiful.
4. Ah, and finally today.
Throughout the day I felt so sluggish and Al Aye Zack Why that all I did was watched Friends, surfed the net and reread some chapters of HP7. Not until it was 10.45 pm (when I was convinced that everyone in M'sia I was talking to on msn either went for dinner or watch drama) that I started to do some final cleaning of the house, which was totally necessary, as I'd not want to come back to a house filled with cob-webs and invaded by housepests. Not that cleaning it now would help much, seeing that it would still be abandoned for almost 3 months. At least I hope it would be a bit more welcoming when the tear-striken me returns eventually next year. Having said that, I'm still going to miss this house where I call home, and I thought I felt a tinge bit nostalgic when I mopped the house and did my last ever laundry for the year. Insane, you may say, but perhaps it's because this house is now more of a home than it was previously..
5. What's left tomorrow
Lots. Firstly, finish up with some hand-washing, then clean the toilet, then the bedroom, and at last start to pack. Yes I haven't even started. Argh. Everything to be fitted into 15 kilos, instead of the usual 25-27 kgs, because I'm flying AirAsia this time. Omg. Will I manage? That I'll worry tomorrow. All left to the last day.
6. What's left after that
Flight. First time travelling AirAsia, no in-flight entertainment!!! What can I do in 8 hours tell me tell me! No more Harry Potter to read (it would be too heavy to bring it back anyway). Bro has loaded some movies in his Ipod, that could last us for 1-2 hours? Then? Sleep and eat and..? Hmmm..
7. Home Sweet Home
'nuff said.
PS: I'm gonna miss the trains here where I spend at least 2 hours a day. 3rd home?
