Call

Just got off the call with my family, specifically my two sisters.

Asked them what they wanted from Australia and was amused with their answers.

The elder sister:

"Hair accessories that have big floral designs. And basically anything floral la.."
"Floral??"
"Yar. You know, anything with flowers."
"Yar I know floral. But you, floral?"
"Yar. They look nice and er.. decent."
"Seriously, you.. floral?"

Okay good that my floral sense is getting into my turning-decent sister hahaha =p
Can't believe you said "decent", you wild child, I mean wannabe wild child hahaha

Baby sister:

"Arllooo lowmeiting"
"Hmmm.."

Initially she didn't wanna talk because she's "too tired".

"你要present吗?"
"我要你回来.. 我写了一个letter 给你, 还没有post 给你!!!"
"要什么present吗?"
"Barbie doll toys.."
"Aiyo..that one you buy at home la.. Any present you want from Australia?"
"Australia ar...I want Barbie doll castle!"
"Huh!! Castle ar.... 很难勒..还有吗?"
"我要..Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck 的 ribbon"
*Scratches head*

Elder sister
"Aiya she's not making any sense la, she's falling asleep on my lap. Remember my floral arrr!!"

As Rachael says..

..blogging is probably a more meaningful and time-effective way of spending your time online!

So let's see..

I'm hours away from submitting my final Business Practicum final report! Can't wait, have been working on it with my team for the past 12 weeks, and more crazily during the past few nights!

So that makes it less than 10 days to 3 final papers, and I'm honestly feeling under-prepared!!! Honest.

Anyway that also means it's approximately 16 days to freedom!

HOWEVER, as of now.. fingers crossed that my revision and exam prep go smoothly..

That aside,

life's been a learning experience so far. Had a good taste of reality!

ON A MORE RANDOM NOTE,

bro got us a MICROWAVE!!!!

sorry to sound too ancient, but this is prolly the first we've had in our family ever since
this technology existed! (the one gathering dust in a box at home doesn't count!)

omg MICROWAVE!!!!!!

HOORAY TO WARM-BREAKFAST MORNINGS!

no more omg-rushing-no-breakfast-because-bread-is-frozen-in-fridge-and-if-i-heat-it-up-I'll-miss-bus/car...

haha. happy happy.

ok back to group meeting, final!

adios!

Helloz

*Clears cobwebs and dusts*
Hello again, how is everybody? Here's some updates so far (in no particular order)!

1. SIP

I'm accepted into the Shanghai Industry Project! Quite an unexpected surprise 2 days back when I was in a group discussion. Wasn't initially selected and was placed on waiting list. and hehe thanks to someone who pulled out, I was offered the place instead! Will go to Shanghai from July 2nd till 18th and work on a business problem in a team of 4. Not dissimilar to the Business Practicum subject I'm taking now, just that it's done within two weeks.

Which entails writing a team report, presenting to the board etc PLUS touring around Shanghai (never been there before hehe), going to the Expo and meeting new people! Though I forsee jitteries 'cause the other participants are all locals, and I'm known to be suffering from xenophobia (mild), at least with locals my age. hehe how I wish I can interact with them the way I do with my elderly friends in Eltham. Makes me a little like a time-traveller from the past but I digress.

Most importantly, I realized I don't have a lot of things (think a proper suit, bag, shoes etc etc) and will need to "invest" for this trip. PW has been of great encouragement so off I'll go on a shopping spree after exam! Thankfully the uni generously offers each of us a AUD750 grant, but that'll will probably cover 30-40% (maybe?) of cost.

Which means, the other 60-70% will have to bleed from my parents' and my pocket! Ahh.. time to takeup more jobs at DLU after exam. Ahhhh, money money money, must be funny, in a rich man's world!

ALSO, MUCH APOLOGIES TO SARA FOR DISRUPTING UR PLANS..THANKS FOR BEING SO UNDERSTANDING.. *HUGS*

2. Exam and final assignment

*skip* hahaha. nothing new. deadlines and stress and zzz. Haven't met some friends for quite some time, catch up soon? Okok I know I know, "how to catch up when you're NEVER online or around?" Will work on that and try my best!

3. Job Outlook

REJECTEDDDDD! haha.. though kinda expected, mum says take experiences as free training! hehe will look out for more, gotta apply apply apply, more so after exams!

On another note Jessica was really kind about it and said, I could always go back to DLU post-grad to do more support work there!

4. Internship

Been seriously considering global internships involving volunteering work for community projects in developing countries. Global Vision International (GVI) has been a helpful resource and offers a range of volunteering opportunities in countries such as Sri Lanka, India, Laos and Thailand. Okay maybe not Thailand, warzone warzone!

It'll take a min. of 6 months and I thought it would be a good break post-graduation, pre-work! Then again, it needs MONEY seeing how sponsored placements are scarce in not-for-profit organizations. Quite a lot of money. Hmmm, may consider fund-raising as an option.

5. Malaysia

HOW ARE YOU ALL?

Miss you all back home! Been looking back at pictures, funny how I never realize how small-size is Ting, perhaps exacerbated in photos, wanna hug her again!

Hope I was back home to join the whole-Thomas-Cup-Spirit!

Hmmm that's about it regarding life so far. haha been thinking alot lately about the future.

Need to focus on present too.. exams are looming around the corner. And given the "amazing" exam timetable this sem, I forsee......... Ah. let's just hope for the best!

That's all for now :D bye guys!

Life

Having a test tomorrow!

Oh on a random note,

there's a mouse in the house.

Initially we didn't really plan to do anything

it seemed harmless and only wanted shelter

so tiny and adorable it reminds me of Jerry

since we don't leave food lying around..

but it's been nibbling a fair abit

and the only solution, according to my brother,

is - Poison. *Sigh*

On a less depressing note,

just had a phone interview today and submitted another job application

am due for another phone interview next week.

ahh..

Besides getting abit short of time to cope with everything

Can't believe I'm going to work so soon..

don't really know what's out there

what's going to work and what's not.

Don't even know if I will get a job

what if I don't?

Just know that I need to cope with all the uncertainties,

and give it a headstart somewhere.

life from 4.26 - 4.33 pm

4.26 pm Friday.

Just submitted an assignment today plus two job applications.

Head is spinning, eyes tearing due to 2 hours sleep.

Skipped 4 hours of lecture this week.

Done an interview this week, failed attempt good try.

But heart is happy, liberated, for the weekend is here.

Well of course that's another two job applications coming on board

a mid sem next week

research deadlines

and *sigh* a backlog of accumulated catching-up on studies.

**

But for now, @4.30 pm

I'm free of commitments.

Free of thoughts till 5.00 pm.

But life after 5 pm would be fun.

But life after 7 pm would be back to normal.

1 hour spent on train.

And life after 8..

Idunowad I'm typing actually

Trying to keep myself sane

but am going bonkers and abit hysterical

maybe I should keep those to myself

after all I am in the library?

Yea. I am.

My eyes feels like closing

Anytime

I might just fall asle

A soldier

Today after dinner with Jian and Jer,

I took the train home and was waiting for the bus

when an unkempt man, in his sixties

approached me for the time of the next bus..

Talking to him further wasn't my initial intention.

**

Turned out that he is a half-Portugese born in Shanghai

enlisted in the British Army

and positioned in Malaya in the 60's

He said

he used to think he's got what it takes to face the world

the bold air of confidence

not unusual in bloods of the young

but his experience in the army humbled him

for life's not to be taken granted for

and that he's very, very lucky

compared to his comrades in India.

He said that

he had learnt 3 things:

Be Kind

Respect Others &

Never Give Up - for dreams do come true.

**

A brief encounter

nevertheless a meaningful one.
